For beaches you have Apple Bay (known for its great surf, it is not always ideal for swimming and the beach can change from sand to pebbles a couple of times a year. Long Bay is to the West and is a mile-long white sand beach, again it can be rough if there is swell – fun for boogie-boarding! Smugglers Cove is further on to the West (10 mins drive) and a well-hidden gem…it’s a sheltered spot with lovely reef for snorkeling and Nigel’s Beach Bar for libations. Cane Garden Bay is just a 10 minute drive to the East and is another calm sandy beach; it has several beach bars, restaurants and live music – fun by day or night. Do check the BVI cruise ship schedule online if you prefer to avoid the crowds – this is their preferred beach.
