For all the fans of the Peter Island Resort & Spa information about what is happening with the rebuild and when the resort be operational has been extremely hard to come by. Here are four things we know or have heard to date:
1 – No Real Communication: Peter Island Resort last posted on their website shortly after the hurricanes and since then they have only posted a handful of “throwback” photos on their Facebook page.
2 – Rebuilding Plans: The resort’s plans for rebuilding have not been made available to the public. The only thing we have read is a December 24, 2018 article in the BVI News where Premier Dr D Orlando Smith stated “Peter Island Resort is quite advanced with the extensive rebuilding plans.”
3 – Projected Opening Date: Work is actively going on, but at this point there has been no announcement of a projected opening date for the resort.
4 – The Good News: In case you wanted to see what Peter Island looked like immediately after the hurricane, we found the photo below that was taken on September 10, 2017 and shows the extensive damage to the Peter Island Resort in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Based on the few current current photos we have seen including the one above, it looks like they are making progress.
BVI Traveller will continue to keep you updated as more news becomes available, but for now this is all great news for those who know and love Peter Island!
