According to a recent article in the BVI News, the BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA) is soliciting bids for the paving of the airport on Virgin Gorda. Currently the runway is a sand and gravel airstrip. Paving the runway would expand the allowable aircraft who could use the airport to turboprops and possibly small jets.
“The runway at the airport remains an unpaved, sand and gravel airstrip measuring 3,100 feet. The award shall be made to a responsible respondent(s) taking into consideration the requirements and conditions set forth in the request for proposals and, if necessary, obtaining best and final offers,” the notice issued by the BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA) said.
