Papaya Villa… Luxurious and Comfortable with Impressive Panoramic Ocean Views!

Papaya Villa is set in the hills above Long Bay in the West End of Tortola with outstanding sea views towards Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Cay and the USVI. Completed in 2010, Papaya Villa is an exceptional villa in every way – the location is quiet and private but just a couple of minutes from restaurants and beaches, the amenities are top of the line as the house was designed to be lived in and not just as a holiday home, and the furnishings are tasteful, and of the finest quality. It goes without saying that the views are magnificent, overlooking the North Shore, Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Cay and Green Cay. With an abundance of living and dining areas, everyone will be comfortable and relaxed….. whether lounging by the infinity pool, dining beneath the canopies of the pergola or sipping cocktails on the large covered porch and admiring the intoxicating vistas.

At the heart of the property is the great house with large living space, indoor and outdoor dining/living areas, gourmet kitchen with all the conveniences you would expect including a 6 burner viking stove, dishwasher, warming drawer and subzero refrigerator. Food can be enjoyed in the formal dining room or outside dining area overlooking the infinity edge pool. The patio area is equipped with an outdoor kitchen with both gas fired barbeque and pizza oven, as well as an indonesian hand crafted dining table set under a shaded pergola perfect for experiencing the outstanding Caribbean sunsets.

Vine cottage, is a large master suite with a king-sized four poster bed which looks out onto the ocean and Jost Van Dyke. The ensuite includes both indoor and outdoor showers. There is a kitchenette and a private veranda overlooking Jost Van Dyke.

Two large bedrooms lie at the heart of the estate. In one bedroom there is a four poster king-sized bed with outdoor shower, the second bedroom has the convenience of two twin beds or king sized bed with an indoor shower. These bedrooms both open onto a porch overlooking the infinity pool and the ocean view.

The 4th bedroom adjacent to the landscaped courtyard of the property has two twin beds, an ensuite with rainfall shower and a kitchenette with refrigerator and coffee maker. All bedrooms can either be opened up to enjoy the sea breeze but also come with sliding screens and air-conditioning for those important cool down periods after enjoying the Caribbean sun.

There are spectacular sea views from all parts of the property and over an acre of landscaped gardens full of colorful and fragrant Caribbean plants. Do not be surprised to see native hummingbirds enjoying their favourite firecracker plant. For the kids there are lots of places to explore both on the property, including the ‘castle keep’ area, and around Long Bay. For those times when you prefer a shaded and cool area, there is a lawned back garden with snoozing hammock.

The villa is designed around a beautiful infinity edge pool overlooking the warm clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. The pool has a deeper and shallower stepped area to allow an additional place for guests to relax and admire the view, and also to allow kids a slightly shallower area of the pool. For working off those sumptious barbeques, there is a swim current machine, which can be used for swimming laps or just for fun! The pool is heated, so can be used day and night, and is excellent for star gazing as the property’s private location allows wonderful views of the clear caribbean night sky. Alternatively, star gaze from next to the outdoor fire pit on the patio area.

The area around Papaya Villa is quiet, set in the exclusive Long Bay Estate. You will only hear the sound of the ocean and breeze through the palms. Access to the tennis courts at Long Bay (3 – 4 minute drive) is available on request for a small additional fee.

Papaya villa overlooks Long Bay Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on Tortola (2 minutes drive). Long Bay is also famous as a great spot to watch the spectacular colors of the Caribbean sunset.

Just a 5 minutes drive away is Smugglers Cove, which is a stunning, calm and secluded beach with great all year around snorkeling. For more action packed activities including surfing and water sports, other beaches such as Apple and Cane Garden Bay are close by, although guests may be just as happy spending all their time in the restful surroundings of the villa. The choice is all yours.
